Our senior management, Shevawn and Simon Barder, have focused on writing program business using a quota share model successfully for many years. Both have Lloyd’s of London expertise and training in the excess and surplus lines market, with Simon having run excess and surplus lines syndicate operations successfully at Lloyd’s for a number of years.

Shevawn has more than 30 years’ experience in the re/insurance industry. Shevawn is the Chief Executive Officer and Principal of AM RE. Prior to AM RE, Shevawn was the President of Ironshore Marine Re. Shevawn has held roles at Marine Re, Sedgwick, Alexander & Alexander and Willis.
Simon Barder

As Chief Underwriting Officer and Principal of AM RE Syndicate Inc., Simon has more than 30 years' underwriting and leadership experience in the re/insurance market. Prior to AM RE, Simon was Chief Executive Officer of Ironshore Marine Re. Simon has held roles at Gerling, Cologne Re and Barder & Marsh.

Grant J. Miller
Grant J. Miller
Grant is AM RE’s General Counsel. He manages the legal affairs of the AM Star Hold Co. Insurance Group. He deals with all aspects of company management, legal operations, business & office structure. In 2020, Grant co-founded AM Star Claims Co LLC, which is an attorney-led executive claims management company. Prior to joining AM RE in 2018, Grant practiced as a senior lawyer in high value, catastrophic injury and medical malpractice lawsuits for several years in the UK. He is currently admitted/licensed to practice law in three jurisdictions (Texas, New York, and the United Kingdom). He is a graduate of the University of Aberdeen (Scotland) with both an L.L.B. Bachelor of Laws (with honors) and a Postgraduate Diploma in Professional Legal Practice (with commendation).

Dan Dijak
Dan Dijak joined AM RE in September, 2018. As a Sr. Vice President and the Head of Underwriting he has primary oversight of the company’s underwriting and portfolio management. Prior to joining AM RE, Dan acted as Assistant Vice President with StarStone Insurance and was the Director of Underwriting Controls. Dan also has experience as a Senior Inland Marine Underwriter at StarStone and Underwriter at Great American. He is a graduate of the University of Dayton with a B.B.A. in Economics and Finance.
